COMMISSIONS
The Work: In the commissions and other works, I seek narrative — an essence we’ve yet to illuminate — in the people I paint. These are not your grandmother’s stilted portraits: shellacked hair, prim postures, grim and guarded smiles. Nor are these your mother’s portraits: framed 8x10 photos climbing stairway walls. These are our portraits, cast in primal materials: oil and gold, with splashes of mod color — purely intuitive. I’m pursuing something at once masterful and playful, ephemeral yet grounded. I’m hunting the brief narrative flash that hides inside a life-long journey.
The Process: Reach out, below, and we'll set up a coffee date to discuss what you're looking for. I work in pencil and ink, or in oil/pastel/gold or silver leaf. We can discuss size, style and price. Your investment will be about $2.5K for a drawing and/or $5K for a painting. We'll set up a time for me to take the photograph from which I'll work, so you (or your loved one) won't need to sit for me in my studio. I generally book about one year out.
